Can you give us an introduction about yourself and what you’re currently doing?

My name is Agnieszka and I am a psychologist with over 15 years of experience, holding a PhD in the psychology of well-being. I am trained in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Schema Therapy, and EMDR. I’m 42 years old and moved to Amsterdam in 2022. I’m an extrovert who loves speaking in public, so I attend improv and standup classes to practice and perform on stage. I also enjoy hiking, running, and dancing, and I have a passion for animals.

How did your background and experiences lead you to where you are now?

I have been a psychologist in the scientific field for quite some time. A couple of years ago I went through a personally difficult time, which turned out to be the most transformative and growth-inducing experience of my life. This personal journey inspired me to work with clients struggling with relationship issues, such as communication problems, dating and confidence, repeating patterns, and setting healthy boundaries.

What was your experience with entrepreneurship and how did you decide to start your own practice?

I found entrepreneurship both scary and exciting. The idea of creating something that truly represents my values and beliefs drives me. I value courage and independence, which makes entrepreneurship a great fit for me. Although I briefly worked in a mental health clinic in Amsterdam, I feel more fulfilled making my own choices and helping people in the best way possible.

What kind of clients do you work with, and why did you choose this specialization?

I specialize in relationships and intimacy issues, helping singles and people in relationships understand their role in their relationship struggles. Many individuals face challenges with dating, forming, and maintaining relationships, leading to feelings of helplessness, loneliness, anxiety, or depression. I believe that addressing relationship and intimacy issues is crucial, as these are some of the most basic human needs. My work aims to empower people to overcome their helplessness and improve their relationship skills. While I primarily work with individuals, I also offer couples counseling.

Do you have any advice for coaches and therapists looking to start their own practice?

Focus on your niche – something you excel at – and start there. Concentrate on what comes naturally to you and what you do best. It’s tempting to try to help everyone who comes your way, but sometimes it’s better to refer someone to a colleague who specializes in their specific issue, rather than keeping a client without seeing any improvement.

Why did you choose Stories?

The ambiance, aesthetics, and welcoming atmosphere at Stories really resonated with me. I believe that the aesthetics of our surroundings have a significant impact on our mental health, so the beautiful environment at Stories was an important factor in my decision.
